Default Fernandina Beach smelly air

I'm considering moving to Fernandina Beach. I love the town very much, but on three or four occasions the local paper plants have made the air intolerably stinky with that awful paper pulp smell. I have never smelled it deep down in the Amelia Island residential area, where I would live -- only in town.

Two questions:

1. How often does this happen and for how long do the smelly spells last?

2. Are there any serious health dangers -- more serious than the irritation, I mean -- from the sulfurous/whatever emissions?

Looking forward to your candid feedback. Many more questions abot FB to follow -- just joined the city-data forums a few minutes ago.

I notice it more in the winter than in the summer. It stinks for awhile, you notice it for half a day, maybe less. Supposedly there are no health issues, but I wonder about that.
I do think it is much more noticeable in town than south of here (we live in town.)
I'm kind of wondering what is going to happen with one of the paper mills, Smurfit Stone--they just filed for bankruptcy and are closed down at present.
I am ambivalent about this. While I don't care for the occasional smell, I am sad that jobs could be lost. I understand that I live in a resort destination, but I would hate for this place to turn into another Aspen.
