Young folks make friends at college!
We visited a Square Dance Club last week and the 20 people there were all very friendly towards us, as most of those clubs are. They are always in need/want more club members, so "friendliness" is the key to that! Problem was, these people were just to old for us by 10 plus years! And it pretty much showed in their dancing! We are 60/61 years old and former square dancers, but these folks danced like they were all in their 80's! Yuk!!
I always found Charlotte to be pretty friendly, especially for it's size, same for Atlanta. I lived somewhat close to CLT, but didnt live in CLT. But never had any problems - but I know it has become little NJ the last 5-7 yrs and the southern hospitality isnt what it was.

I know, I hear it a lot. It sucks but what are you gonna do? I hear driving is bad now, people arent polite like they used to be... I guess the natives left for smaller towns and let the tranplants take over CLT.

my wife is the only native I know here. All my friends come from other parts as well. Same with those at my work. Real weird.

We are getting offtrack. The OP is about Jacksonville. Plus don't confuse Jacksonville with other parts of Fl.

How do you think think the military influence affects the vibe in Jacksonville? Is it very noticeable? Does it seem more transient or diverse than other Fl cities that you may know? Would you call it a "conservative" city? Just very curious and I do appreciate the service of the ones who care to make this country "safer" .Thanks for your comments.

IMO, Jax is less transient and less diverse than other parts of FL.

Yes, I'd call it more conservative than the other large FL cities, but peobably not quite as conservative as the panhandle.
