I see lots of complaints about Craigslist. Well obviously I have discovered the secret because I have gotten 3 or 4 interviews off Craigslist. So here it is---
Sit at your computer 5-6 hours a day (or more) and refresh the page. You get the postings as soon as the come up and can be the first to get your resume in. Go ahead---try it!!
Craigslist can be good and it can be bad (very bad). A lot depends on your area, the cities where job ads have to be paid for seem to have far less spam and scammers.
I've been able to get interviews from CL, so I still use it as a job search resource. Because of the spammers, I won't send my resume to a gmail or blind CL account. Rather, I will send a polite email asking if it is a legit ad. Sometimes I will get the standard "scam reply", sometimes I will get an email from HR and I then submit my resume. I'm sure just as they expect us to realise they post blind ads to avoid being inundated, jobseekers are also wary of all the scammers out there gathering email addresses etc.
The local print classifieds in this area are basically useless now, so for local postings checking CL is a must. I also check my local worksource postings on a pretty much hourly basis. It's a first in best dressed world these days.
Yea craigslist can be full of scams. Seems like 75 percent of the stuff I apply to is a scam on there, Just applied to one the other day and it seemed somewhat elaborate. A day after they give me some code to enter on their website, lol. That was the first clue, Second clue the guys supposed name was Shane Payne (I guess the name could be real but sounded phony to me). lol. And the 3rd was he sent it from a hotmail address yet he has a company website. I didn't go through any of the BS. I just tossed it away but one of the first that had a well done website and no location information. Another one was he claimed the site was secure but the encryption lock was obviously not on.
Majority of the stuff I apply to from craigslist sends me to the company's website. I'm not comfortable sending my resume to a generic email. If the company's email is listed, then I will but only after looking up the company on the internet.
Yea I never am all that comfortable sending it as well with all the scams on there but I just took off my address, So about all they can do is call me which they dont tend to do.
I was at my job networking group on Wednesday and a man there said he sends a friendly standard letter asking if the person advertising is a person from a company or a recruiter. He says in the letter that he's reluctant to send his own personal information and asks them if they are from a company to then direct him to their company website. He said he's gotten more than five replies doing it this way and that they do tell him if they're actual HR people from companies and that they do send him a company website address.
I am happy I got a job and won't get evicted the 1st of the month!!
BUT...
Its $5 an hour less than I was making at my last job and still even considerably less than unemployment and its only temp 4-6 months. I now have the task of hoping to find a second nite job to be able to make it every month. I'm going to, of course keep looking for a fulltime job closer to what I was making before. Still went on 2 other interviews today after I accepted the position. At least its something and enough to pay rent! Even if I don't have water or lights!!!
I do now, but the job I took today will only be enough to basically pay the rent. No utilties or anything else but at least I can keep my house until I can find something paying more.

I got a job off craigslist today!!
I now have the task of hoping to find a second nite job to be able to make it every month. I'm going to, of course keep looking for a fulltime job closer to what I was making before. Still went on 2 other interviews today after I accepted the position. At least its something and enough to pay rent! Even if I don't have water or lights!!!
