Hubby is on tenderhooks. They said he has the skills but so far no one called (supposed to call Friday but never did).
The immediate supervisor asked skilled related questions. The head of the dept just gave him a stress/psychobabble interview. Said he had all the skills and was on the short list.
So far he has not heard about second interviews. My husband did not send a thank you. I told him to but he said no.
Has this happened to anyone?
Do you have any advice?

From the HR perspective, there is nothing wrong with calling to follow up once the time you are supposed to hear has PASSED. If I tell someone Thursday, if they call me at 3 Thursday afternoon, I am going to be annoyed as it is very possible I do not have an answer yet. however, if they call me Friday am and say you were supposed to call Thursday, I am not going to be mad. If I say I am going to call Friday, I will usually waiti until the very end of the day if I have not heard anything, but usually call. That said, crisis happens. i was supposed to call a candidate this am at 8:30...if we hadn't had to evacuate the building for a possible fire (false alarm luckily) at 8:20 I would have....
So, once the time has passed, call.
