This is when I was working at the time and I made it to the final round, but failed to get the offer. I did decent on the interviews last time, but I plan to do better this time.

I have the email address of the HR coordinator (who helped facilitate the interview process), the HR manager (who I had a first round phone screen with), and two managers (who I interviewed with in person).

I got the interview after applying through the internet. I can try doing the same again but it's not a sure thing I can get the interview again. Any idea who I should email, if any, and what should I say?

I'd apply again, it'll essentially be the same application because your skills either have stayed the same or increased, so more than likely you'll get an interview.

AND maybe they'll remember you interviewed before, that's a plus in your favor

do you guys think it's a bad idea to try to email one of the people directly with some email message?
I think it might give me the best chance of getting someone to look at my resume

No I did that exact same thing with a SM. I said hi blah blah I notice there is another opening for the position we discussed 9 months I would like to streamline the process so that's why I am contacting you direct. When can we schedule time? He replied we went through the process again and I didn't get it but he was receptive and accommodating.

We all know people are overwhelmed asked to do to much with too little. So when you phrase I am trying to streamline the process they see at as a benefit because frankly the process is a PITA for them as well. Give it a try and report back.

I will give it a try early this upcoming week. Should I send it to the hiring managers though or one of the HR? When I interviewed with the hiring managers last year, they weren't very receptive to my emails but the HR person was pretty communicative. Does it help to mention that I had an in-office interview with them last year or is it better to act like I'm a new candidate? I know some companies don't really like previously rejected candidates.

No no no HR. If you are going to be assertive be so with the correct party your HM never HR. I can't answer without knowing more facts. Frankly my previous advice assumes you did ok but weren't picked we will continue with that in mind. So direct e-mail to HM. Be assertive and tactful. Good aternoon their name, I know you speak to a lot of people so you may not recall my name but I remember you as we had a great conversation so I am reaching out as I am still very interested in working for you and xyz. I noticed the recent news regarding your company.

I believe in giving credit where due and lighten the night, hnsq and I agree probably more than we know I was think about that post where he/she referenced researching and offer a solution to a current problem their prospective employer has........that's how I have always so sold as well you won't pay unless I can solve a legit problem.

Back on point. So if xyz has a known challenge come up with a proposed solution you want to discuss at interview. Now you are the guy offer a solution rather than the guy need a paycheck.
When would you like to meet? Can I buy you a cup of coffee at Starbucks or whatever place. You are a consultant offering a solution on neutral ground having a conversation rather than talking over a desk or across a coffee table.

Try it good night.

I did something similar with a firm that was my dream firm to work with.... I didn't get a position and applied with the same company again a few years later. I contacted HR, though, since I wan't sure if the hiring manager was still with the company, had moved into a different role with the company, and the current company I was working for had a bunch of positions with the same generic title and job description (healthcare econ analyst) that did different things and had different HM so I was scared that company was the same way! I interviewed with them twice, but sadly they went with another candidate who was local.

I would probably contact the HM in your case since it was relatively recent.

I gave it a shot but no response. I will just apply online and see what happens. The position is only advertised on linkedin. Should I try emailing the HR person who posted that instead?

It's good to be proactive and contact them directly, but you need to offer more than just "It's me, again". What has changed about your skills or qualifications in the last year that makes you a better candidate than you were last year? Those are the things you should bring up.
