I recently applied for a position online through a company website. The position was for an estimator job for a big reputable west coast contractor. A couple of week after applying the HR person sent me an email saying this, "Thank you for thinking of us and applying. As it gets closer to your graduation date we should chat about opportunities with us. Your background looks good and we'd like to chat with you closer to that time. Enjoy your week and stay in touch." I will be finishing school this December. Is this just standard procedure or does this look like a promising possibility? Thanks!

I think that they are rejecting you because you have not yet graduated. If there are appropriate openings once you have graduated then they will consider you.

It is probably a very polite form letter they send out to all people in similar positions.

Standard procedure. It is a polite "thanks, but no thanks".
