We interview them manually. Every.Single.One.

US citizens have a right to apply for federal employment. Veterans have additional preferences. Therefore, we need to make sure that everyone is treated as fairly as possible.

We have a staff of about 100 people- I supervise 14 people who do this.

Wow. I stand corrected. However, I think the government operates differently than a regular company. For government jobs, I can see this being done. For a CSR job at a call center, not so much.

Who knows. I could be wrong. We do know that companies use computer based filtering programs to sort through all of the applications.

I recently saw a business office manager position advertised for two days online. They received 15 applications.

Depending on the position and time of year I see anywhere from 25-200 applications for a position. 30-50% are qualified! the rest are simply a wast of time.

700 in 2011-2013 for receptionist, inside sales and customer service. About 50% less for outside sales which require a university degree.

We use software to winnow the amount down via keywords then Wonderlic the highest scoring candidates, then interview from the top three scorers.

We advertise starting salary and a fairly detailed duties list. Our pay is within the norm for the area.
