Last Friday I got a call and email from a recruiter at a lucrative company. I was absolutely excited and called back, had to leave a voicemail and email her. She hasn't got back to me yet. Maybe she's gone this week? I can't pass up this opportunity.

Keep calling until you reach her or until one of you dies.

Interest from an external recruiter is really nothing to get excited about. Would you get all excited for by a sales call?

When did I say it was an external recruiter? This lady works for the company and directly referenced a job I applied for on the company website.

I just reached out directly to a hiring manager for a job I was interested in after I had applied online (through Taleo) 2.5 months earlier. Eventually, I spoke to the HR person and they asked me to formally apply to the position. After I told them I already had, they couldn't even find my name in their system. This goes to tell you that these job platforms are basically a black hole. Count yourself lucky that you got the call and proceed as usual.
