It seems like most of the experts on job hunting say you can't get an interview for a professional office job without a LinkedIn profile and most of the recruiters will not pay much attention to your electronically submitted resume without your LinkedIn address right up on top.

That way they can see:

What you look like? (Hopefully you are young and attractive and either White or Asian or you will be discriminated against when they look at your picture.)

How many connections you have and who they are in the organizational chart so they can try to connect with them to learn if you are any good.

If have link to any blogs, or professional association, or leadership activities.

Nothing I've read and no experts I've spoken with have stated such a thing. Recruiters and hiring managers look for your profile anyway. There's no need to put it on a resume.

I see you added a poll this time.
Didn't you already try a variation of this thread?

This might be field specific? What field are you talking about. Ive NEVER heard this. In my office LinkedIn is more of a laughing stock than a seriously considered tool. In our opinion its just a toy for recruiters (rookie recruiters at that.)

I've never seen or heard of this. If I'm hiring outside sales, I might check a profile - other than that, it's a waste, IMO.

So far all the interviews did it. Many have Heads of Corps whom they referred me to their local branch. They basically wanted to see if I had proof of all the info/art I had on my profile.

And fyi sales people hound me.

I can see that for positions that are portfolio-based for sure. No clue why they'd print it out, seems antiquated.

I am sure that some people check your linkedin profile, but I have never heard of including it in your resume. I have yet to have anyone submit a resume with their linkedin or facebook page on it either.
