I'm back in job search mode after a pretty long run - wow, it's gotten worse than I remember!

Curious if you answer the optional questions regarding gender, race, and disability, and whether you think it matters?

Yes.

I want them to know that an African American female veteran applied for the position.

I think that many people do not know the purpose of these forms, and avoid them out of ignorance.

I now decline to answer my gender, race, and disability. However, I will answer that I am not a veteran.

I'm a white female with health conditions. Well, one that is medicated... others I used to be medicated for (mental health).

Do you know (or believe) that this portion of the application is not used for hiring purposes, only for statistical record?

Answer it or don't, all or nothing, the hiring manager never sees your responses.
