i want to get a job at a healthcare facility doing IT WORK. most of my jobs have been tech support. the issue is i have no degree. i have 0 experience in the healthcare field other than majoring in biology. Please help me make my resume stand out. my goal is to relocate from minnesota to the east coast.

Career Focus- To obtain a position in Healthcare Information Technology that allows me to utilize my existing technical experience, to expand my IT skillset specific to the Healthcare field, and provide an opportunity for overall professional growth and advancement

This resume and your cover needs a lot of re-work.

There is too much here for me to address but I know the Regulars will remark on all the various issues that are of concern.

I hope you are not under the impression any hospitals are going to pay for you to relocate since relocation is paid by hospitals for upper management, certain nursing positions and physicians.

Also, as you may know, no one in HR at any of the hospitals or urgent care centers, etc. are going to spend any time on your resume -no matter how well written- when they see you are an out-of-town applicant.

You will either need to move to the East coast and apply and/or use an East coast addy on your resume so you can 'trick' people on the East coast into thinking you are local.

If you go to your library, use the American Hospital Association's Guide to the Healthcare Field to identify hospitals. Be sure it is current since there is a lot of consolidation amongst hospitals nowadays.

Work on that "Career Focus" paragraph- it is the weakest part of your resume inasmuch as it resembles the no-longer-used 'Objective' style paragraph.

Also, ask the Regulars how to insert a conversation about EHR's into your resume.

My first question, and what I think you need to address right away, is what do you do with Sharepoint? Use it? Administer it? Program for it? You're leaving it too wide open. Any server administration experience, or are you just a Windows user? Get my drift?

not much. basically our test centers have a website they use daily. for example. inside teams or say examinet. these sites are sharepoint sites. so we basically just help them with that. whether its logging in or just troubleshooting any issues they have with the site.

Vue in Pearson vue should be capitalized
You typed delivery, instead of deliver
Listening skills, effectivecommunication, and the ability to think on my feet. --- fragment sentence
"....testing clients. That means..."= testing clients; that means
Two periods at the end of "....testing organization." (which means your attention to detail isn't so keen....)
Written and verbal communication is a highlight? Written and verbal communication is in every job. You might want to say highly skilled in it?


Remember, in your resume, when you do the bullets or whatnot, decide on what tense and be consistent.

Not in IT, but none of your skills would be useful in for a Lab IT person, nor Nursing side of the IT or even pharmacy. From my experience with them, most of the customers are internal personal, so the sales/billing/etc isn't all that useful for someone in IT, it just isn't their job to provide those. Same with the troubleshooting, I'm not claiming to know what they do, but it appears a lot of the IT people run communications between the healthcare company and the software company, and it is the software company's job to fix the problem, IT just makes sure they don't break anything else while doing it.


you said you have no degree then list Bachelor Behavioral Arts & Sciences? How do you have a bachelor's that also isn't a degree?

It would benefit you to pick a single suite and get certified in it. Like become an Epic specialist, or Cerner or Meditech or Soft. It's not exactly hard to get certified on them, but the jobs are behind the scenes enough that people just aren't all that aware of them to pick them out unless they already know of the job. Something like this job https://careers.epic.com/Home/ViewPosition?id=6, it isn't a US based one from what I glimpsed, it is just a quick google search anyways. Oh, the companies pay for the classes/certification once you get into the job so it is something that just "comes" as you progress through the work. The flip side is to get clinicial experience then get the IT side later.

my ultimate goal is to get out of the help desk. im tired of all my jobs being help desk. i want to change careers from IT to healthcare. i want to move back east, get a job at a hospital or some healthcare facility. and finish my biology degree. I DONT WANT TO STAY IN IT. but all my job experience is IT.
