I won't be moving until July '16 so when would be a good time to start sending out resumes?
Did you move out of state w/o a job and if so how long were you unemployed?
Did you find what you were seeking?

If you see jobs that you like, get started now. After the holidays, ramp up even more.

depends on your field and experience. The more experience you have, typically the less time it will take to find a job. But if you're fresh out of school, or in a trade thats very saturated it will take longer

I am starting my job search very soon, but won't be available for work until mid June. Is this too early? Don't most employers want new hires to start almost immediately?

I wouldn't start until you are ready to be there in 2-4 weeks. Not many employers are going to hire you with a start date in mid 2016.

It's a catch-22 because the process can sometimes take a few months, but yes, once you have an offer, the new employer will expect you to start within a few weeks, not a few months. Probably 3-4 months out from your projected move date is the max you can really start applying, and if you have flexibility on moving more quickly, that will help.

Thanks. I'll start applying for jobs in February.
