Had one of these yesterday.

The scam is that there is often, no job. The point is to generate traffic for xyz job search engine. Pointless waste of time.

We had that long thread with fake HR people asking applicants to use "executive classic format" and pay a service I've also seen fake job sites. There are a lot of scams targeting job-seekers so be wary.

There are so many scammers out there who prey on job seekers and the unemployed. I've even had some professional staffing firms contact me and I fell for one of them. She said she likes to meet face to face with all of her clients, so I took 1/2 day to drive to her office and chat with her for 30 minutes. She hasn't done jack for me even though I've reached out multiple times with opportunities I've seen from her firm. All I get is radio silence. I also saw quite a few promising jobs on Indeed recently, and when I clicked apply it took me to some disabled persons web site. Of course I didn't apply.

Something like Indeed? Sounds like a scam to bolster user count and ultimately increase ad revenue.

That is because recruiters have contact quotas. It is a performance metric. They also want your manager's references and to ask where you have applied so they know who is hiring.

I get at least 1 Indian recruiter with a thick accent calling me every week, asking me to sign up on "reflik" to be considered for "this perfect opportunity". He claims there is no other way to apply for this role unless I sign up there!

What a scam.
