What is everyone's experience and/or suggestion in applying to jobs during the coronovirus?
Should applicants wait until everything dies down, whenever that may be, since employers are not hiring or should applicants apply anyways? I already have a ft job but was wanting to apply to jobs before the virus started. I applied to almost 50 jobs, received 2 phone interviews, and no offers as of yet and it has been 2 weeks.

It's all up in the air. I know someone who got a tentative offer yesterday, though the start date may not be for months. We are looking to hire 2 entry level folks, but I haven't seen a ton of resumes come in.

I'm still going to apply, but I have been at it for way longer than 2 weeks.

Employers that are deemed "Essential' could be actively hiring. Those definitions vary by State.

I was in the middle of an interview process at a local company here in NC and my last call with HR from last week I found out I advanced to the next and final stage which is a meeting with the company's president and other management.

However, the office is closed and everyone is working from home. I was also told they don't have the appropriate tools to conduct video chats. So essentially this process is at a standstill.

It's been a week since I last heard from them and it's frustrating how this COVID pandemic has put so many things on pause.

A lot of businesses have implemented hiring freezes if not outright staff reductions. Look at your target industry. Will it be impacted by the coronavirus?

We were designated as essential by the governor, however we have a hiring freeze on. I just made it with my most recent hire, who started Monday, then as of Tuesday is working from home like most of us, training by Skype. The only places I have seen hiring are fast food delivery, and grocery stores.

Will it be a corporate job, or would it be customer facing? The customer facing positions in retail should be growing. CVS, Kroger, and Amazon are a few examples with new hiring plans. You can bet every hospital is looking for support staff, not just doctors and nurses.

In times of crisis, there will always be companies that benefit from it.
