I was looking at a great book about resumes over at the library. It says that most people have a lousy resume because it is just a list of the duties they had in each job going back ten years. If a company puts in an advertisement for an administrative assistant and gets 200 resumes. 190 of them will look exactly alike and are put in pile b REJECT). Each of the weak resumes just tell the reader what tasks the applicant performed in each job and make a number of empty blanket statements about their talents. Not very effective.

I get tired of resumes that say things like: Strong communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; strong Microsoft Office Skills; flexible; hard working, etc, etc.

You need to sell it to the reader of your resume. Yes, describe your basic responsibilities for each job listed- so the reader of your resume can understand the scope of your last few positions, but sell the information not tell it. Promote your skills, talents, results and responsibilities. Tell a story and sell the reader that you are extraordinary not just another bland person. It all comes fown to how you say it!

"fown" - hmmmm, now what if an applicant had that mis-spelled? Trolls. LOL.

This is the 5th or 6th incarnation of the OP. None of the regulars believe that the OP even has a job, let alone the job s/he claims to have as HR at a highly sought after Fortune 500 company. The overwhelming majority of posts in his/her other incarnations have been designed to elicit controversy from other users.

The OP is a troll who likes to upset people by making them feel like THEY are 100% of the blame for the recession.

OF course only top candidates get jobs...!!

This is pretty funny. I mean if a person does not need a job and is currently employed, why are they reading up on resumes? Maybe a little too much free time.......

How could I forget? Must have been the library where the great book about resumes was found.
