I can understand Richard's concern in posting this. To tell you the truth, I'm still not comfortable with the thought of such lists being made and kept -- even if it is for tracking COVID. Aside from the Nazi implications (which may or may not overblown) it's setting a precedent for governmental agencies to make similar demands of private agencies in order to track citizens for other reasons.

I mean, what if a local governmental agency should start demanding that private agencies keep records for the purpose of tracking AIDS (another illness of national concern)? The implications of targeting Gay and Lesbian folks are just as disturbing as those of targeting Jews (or those of other religions).

I understand your point but they're asking the "event organizers maintain records of all attendees of worship to retain this information", is this any house of worship to keeps track of who attended or a visitors book that gets signed during a funeral? There not asking that this information be released or retained beyond 30 days.

As for your second reference where I live if you come up positive for VD or any type of sexually transmitted disease you name is reported to the State Health Department and you will be contacted, as with Kansas City they are trying to quickly contact those that may have been exposed to prevent the disease from spreading.

Good point. In New York, though, I'm pretty sure that individuals' names aren't used in State Health Department STD reports -- and only statistical information is kept. (Presumably, anyone testing positive for a STD has already been informed of this by their doctor.) I could be wrong, however. I wonder whether we have any forum members here in the healthcare industry who might know?
