I am looking for a lounge type of place that has a dance floor. That plays really good R&B/lounge/jazz music that you can really groove to. A place where most of the people that go there are over 30 and are "classy". No guys wearing pants that are falling off the butt and and you don't have to worry about fights breaking out in the parking lot. Does this type of place even exist in Kansas City?

One that i can think of is Jardines on the plaza, it tends to be an older crowd but i'm not sure if it has a dancefloor.
Jardine's Restaurant And Jazz Club (http://www.jardines4jazz.com/index.php?menu=3 - broken link)

Another classy place would be the Majestic Steakhouse. On the weekends in the basement they play live jazz while your eating, that is a pretty cool time.

Other places that would fit your description would be in the 18th and Vine Jazz District.

But if your looking for just a club/club that plays hits and people dress nicely. Club Monaco in Martini Corner and Club Luna in the Crossroads is what you would want.

I suggest the Epicurian on 75th and Troost. Don't mistake this with Ep Phase II further down on Troost. I beleive it's actually age 35+ and I've never been for that reason, but I hear good things. My husband went with a friend a few months ago, def not his first time, but he said they had a good time.

The same guy who owns the Ep, also owns the Jukehouse in 18th and Vine. I hear wonderful things about it as well. I have not been, but almost everyone I know has.

If you go to either place make sure you try the chicken wings, they are fabulous and that I know!

If you check out those places and like them I have a few more suggestions.

I always wondered what the story was with this place; I used to drive by it every day on my way to work when I lived in Waldo and worked in south KC.

It's a nice place, no trouble, 30 something/ 40 something and older crowd. Lots of Two stepping and very strong drinks.
