Yea, but that's just for the closest spots to the stadium. There are plenty of buses, and light rail, and thousands of spaces in other parking lots or on the streets downtown within walking distance that are much cheaper, if not free.

You don't have much of a choice at Arrowhead.

Don't get me wrong. NFL stadiums don't belong downtown in my opinion. They create way too much dead space and parking lots and are used only a few times a year.

But parking seems a bit high at Arrowhead.

Even if I LIKED football, the cost of going to see a Chiefs game and parking in their lot to do so is beyond obscene. Just not a realistic expenditure.

I was at the K Monday night, with seemingly two dozen other spectators. The game was free (tickets donated to participants in the weekend's Step Up for Down Syndrome event held on the grounds), so I was only out $10 for parking and the price of a hot dog and beverage. More doable by miles.

Chiefs are 5-0 at home and this is the inaugural year after a 375 million renovation of Arrowhead and they still have well over 10,000 empty seats at at homes games.

Ouch.

Is the economy that bad in KC? Is KC no longer an NFL town?

Denver continues to sell out, San Diego does too and they haven't done well. You can't get tickets to the teams around this area (DC, Balt, Philly).

Some teams are down, but they are not 5-0 and are not playing in a brand new stadiums.

Come on KC...

I'll be at the next home game and possibly the one on DC 26th. It will be interesting to see if the atmosphere (tailgating, crowd noise etc) has taken a nose-dive too.

And you want an NHL or NBA team. I was a huge supporter of that, but I'm starting to wonder now.

Maybe it's the economy. KC is just not doing well at all.

We wanted to go, but to even get moderately decent seats we were looking at well over $200 for a pair. Add ticketmaster fees to that, and forget about it! And it certainly isn't hurting revenues, so ownership is unlikely to care or do anything about it.

It's the money, and the fact that the team just isn't there yet. I think people are still skeptical that the team is a contender, and they don't want to spend a bunch of money on a team that will lose.

At least attendances are better than the last few years.

I was at the game yesterday and it wasn't as loud as it used to be, but it was still a good atmosphere.

The NFL, and Chiefs have really priced out most fans anymore, I love them, but I'm not spending $50+ for tickets, and $20+ for parking when I can watch the game on a flatscreen tv and know whats going on better with the tv broadcast than I do if I'm at the stadium. The NFL is going to have to address these ridiculous ticket prices and its possible lockout in 2011 or expect lots more empty seats in every city in the coming years

Seriously, the cost makes it laughable.

I never went to a Chiefs game. The whole family could go see the Royals with snacks included for one Chiefs ticket. Football's better on TV anyway.

The Chiefs have had some bad years, and that makes folks think twice about buying season tickets, Local Businesses quit buying season tickets in down years because alot of people don't want to watch a loser. And ticket prices are beyond reach of alot of fans. You guys have a great coaching staff, and some good young players, and are in the hunt for the AFC West, For one week everything was right in the world as the Chiefs and Raiders were tied for first place....By the way I hate the Chiefs, and the Bronco's Oh yeah and the Chargers too... Congratulations for becoming Good again...Go Raiders

The same can be said about going to a concert, broadway play etc. People have different interests. I guess my point is that if KC can't fill a brand new stadium fielding a first place NFL team in the stadium's inaugural year, than it really has no business trying to land an NHL or NBA team. Because tickets are more and KC will need to buy more of them. 40-50 games vs 8

While I have always been more of a Royals, fan, I have always enjoyed going to a Chiefs game once in a while.

Sure it's better on TV to a degree, but there is something about being there, tailgaiting etc that is better than TV. It's also on TV in other cities too and they are able to fill their stadiums. Also, if the stadium is 30% empty and the crowd is not into it, that will make the tv experience less exciting as well.

You can get tickets to the Chiefs for $25 each. Most NFL stadiums don't have tickets that cheap. It's the same deal with the Royals. It cost 1/5 as much to take a family to a Royals game (and you have better seats) than most MLB park. Despite the Royals record, it's still MLB and MLB caliber baseball.

2.2 million people live in KC. If Green Bay can fill up their stadium, I'm sure KC can to.

And what's with that middle level? It looks bad on TV. Like they can't sell any tickets there. Those must be priced way too high.

On a side note. Parking is off the charts ridiculous at Arrowhead. I mean, few places in the country, even the most expensive markets, charge as much as Arrowhead for parking.

But that's a price you pay in a city with terrible public transportation. They have a monopoly and you don't have an alternative. I see they don't even run ATA buses there any more, just a handful of school buses. Nice.

The Chiefs do need to lower parking fees. That's a killer for a lot of people, I'm sure.
