I've had trouble getting an answer elsewhere, as people want to pussyfoot around and/or be politically correct and not answer the question. What I mean by "white trash" is the type that is exemplified on TV shows like Jerry Springer. This type is often emotionally troubled, easily offended, may easily lash out at others, and they may start trouble with innocent people for no apparent reason. I absolutely do not specifically mean poor people, rural people, blue collar, or anything like that. While money doesn't necessarily have anything to directly to do with it, "white trash" tend to be poorer, maybe financially insecure, and somewhat destitute. The fact they don't have much to lose, I think, is largely what drives and allows for their "white trash" behavior. That said, places where concentrations of "white trash" live could be accurately considered white ghettos. The intro paragraph to this Wikipedia article explains very well what I mean by "white trash":

"....The term suggests outcasts from respectable society living on the fringes of the social order who are seen as dangerous because they may be criminal, unpredictable, and without respect for authority whether it be political, legal, or moral...."

White trash - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I want to know what others familiar with the Kansas City area think, but I will say I think Excelsior Springs is one of the most "white trash" towns in the region. In this regard, that town is off the chains. Yes, there are good aspects of "Excelsior" (as it's locally referred), and not everybody there is white trash, but there is a huge concentration there. If you haven't experienced "white trash", so be it, but those who have should understand where I'm coming from and why this is an interesting topic. If anybody cares to share, I'm also curious about why certain places became "white trash" in the first place. The first thing I think of is a large stock of older, cheap housing.

Well times have have changed since I left, but Riverside was the poster child of, umm, 'unsanitary people of European descent affected by deferred success', to keep things PC Grandview as well.

Because of the Briarcliff development (million dollar homes and an upscale shopping center), I think the Riverside area is a little different now, but it still has that element. What's weird about Riverside is there are no apparent neighborhoods I can think of, so I don't know where those people live, unless they were/are sort of the collective of the surrounding semi-rural area. Riverside has a lot of visitors from KCK too, especially those shopping for cigarettes, liquor, and fireworks, and of course to visit the casino, so that might be part where its image comes from.

With all due respect to the residents of those cities & towns: Defintely Belton, Sugar Creek, parts of KCK, Archie, Excelsior Springs, Parts of North Independence, Harrisonville, Gladstone, and the north end of St. Joseph all come to mind - definitely not as bad as areas I've visited in Southeast Ohio, KY, Arkansas, E. TX, N. Louisiana, and Indiana.

Don't you mean the south end of St. Joe? I thought the north end was the nicest part. And, any particular part of Arkansas to look out for?

Exactly.

But since I'm here, I might as well say that I lived in the KC area for 11 years and never knew what white trash was until I moved to California.

That's a despicably racist and classist slur.

Another ridiculous thread by MOKAN'T.

Click on the OP's profile and you'll see craven and relentless negativity - and in large volume.

I know it's cold outside, but does OP do anything other than peddle low-brow insults in an effort to make themself feel better?

Everytime I click on this forum I see the same divisive nonsense from the same OP. Embarrassing.
