Hey people,

Oh happy day! We just closed on a house!!! ^_^
It's down around the Red Bridge golf course. I am so excited!!!
We move in August.

I was wondering if any of you had any recommendation for a lawn service to go out there once a month or so. My mom would be able to interface with them while we're not there. Hoping we can find something on the cheap, but not "grab somebody off CL" style.

Also wondering if there were any movers any of you had dealt with for interstate moves, and maybe an enclosed car transport for my hubby's baby. The quotes we're seeing so far are depressing.

And finally, I want to paint a bedroom. The home reno shows make it look hella easy, but I kinda recall it not being the case when I was a kid...think I should try to hire somebody (if so, who?) or put on my big girl paint pants and DIY it?

August will be here before I know it. Oh man, I'd better get my Google Fibre order started now (it'll take SIX MONTHS??) and finish up that packing!

-T.

Can't really help you on hiring help, might try angie's list or something. I personally wouldn't pay to have somebody paint a room. It's just too easy to DIY and it's so hard to find good high quality labor.

But congrats on your new home! Red Bridge is a nice area.

Six months is optimistic for Google fiber installation.

I would recommend Curtis Lawn or SK Lawn Care. Both were about $30 / week, which is enough to get you by until you have your lawn equipment. Good luck and congrats!

Thanks for all the tips and well-wishes!
Yeah, I was a bit shocked at 6 months for Google Fiber, even. I'm used to scheduling install of Internet for day 1 of move in! haha! Guess it's TWC for a few more months. Or so.
nycrite, I contacted them both for a quote. Much appreciated!
Guess I'll just DIY on the bedroom paint. Oh man...but I don't wanna. >_< I should, though, since the move looks like it may cost WAY more than I anticipated.

Follow up for anybody who cares:
Mom went with Curtis Lawncare, I think. They sneak in here about once a week and ninja cut the lawn. Got a 2 person crew and do well enough. Lawn looks as good as it can for "just a weekly trim", although it looks like it could use some treatments as well and some re-seeding.
Google Fiber surprised the heck out of me by asking me before I even moved up here to set an install appointment! What an amazing surprise! I was all set to get my Time Warner cable transferred up here while I wait 'til December, but hey. I got my Internet set up the day after I arrived. Also, the installer was DEAD on time. Wow. Like, 8 AM on the dot. Impressive. What I didn't know, however, is that the TV service requires the TV to be present or they won't install the TV...so I had to wait until the TVs got here with the rest of my stuff and then re-schedule a TV install another 2 weeks (ugh) later. Ah well. Internets > Cable TV.
I didn't paint the room yet because we got here and realized there's way more wrong with the house than the inspections found. Painting is cosmetic. Gotta deal with the important stuff first...like the completely disgusting cabinets and closets. Like...water leaking and water damage. Like...more stuff than I should probably go into on a public forum.

Other than that...
Love the house, and love being here. Everybody's been so super friendly so far! Neighbour has 2 dogs that I never hear, and there's been nothing but friendly folks at the stores and out in the street.
Yay!

Google's stepped up their install game...we got ours installed about four months ahead of the predicted time frame they gave us. That said, I'm slightly disappointed with it. Customer service is much better than TWC ever was, but the signal is pretty frequently dropped in all my upstairs rooms. Which is a bummer.
