Does anyone know where you can get bulk supplies in Lawrence or the KC metropolitan area? Things like sproutable grains, seeds, nuts, legumes, dried fruit, etc., available by the pound, rather than prepackaged.

Much appreciated!

There is a Dutch Bakery Bulk Food store out East of Kansas City on 50 Hwy at Tipton. That's a good hour East of the State Line. I know you can buy bulk there but as to not pre-packaged I am not certain. It is an Amish store.

I'd be curious to see if anyone posts of anything closer.

Planters Seeds at the Rivermarket in downtown KCMO might be worth a call. I am only seeing spices listed on their website so I don't know if they are out of the seed buisness or not.

There is a listing for a Dutch Maid Bulk Foods in St. Joseph but I cannot attest to that one as I've not been to it.

That's one thing I miss terribly sincemoving to the KC area. I can't believe there are no bulk stores. I had a terrific one in suburban Chicago where I could buy nuts, grains, spices, dried fruits, bakling ingredients...CHOCOLATE. Some of the grocery stores had bulk sections, too, which was wonderful. I think any grocery chain who would do this in KC would make a killing. Are there laws against it or something?

Exactly! Moving away from a good one, and going to miss it! Even if the Dutch Bakery is a long way off, it might be worth a run every so often if it has that kind of thing. Thanks lifelong!
