Moving to Kentucky in June from Charleston, South Carolina.
Looking at the areas along the northern coast and west Kentucky.
Actually looking at Owensboro, Henderson, Paducah, or Bowling Green
Looking at maybe renting or buying a house.
My husband have been to Kentucky several times on our trips to Nebraska from South Carolina.
We are medically retired, looking for cheaper housing, good medical care, some place friendly
All in all, just a place to call home. We have been moving alot in the last 25 years. Just haven't found that home feeling.
My doctors told me 5 years ago that I need to move to a Tropical Climate area where there is humidity but not constantly hot most of the year.
I have lots of questions and hope to get some answers.
Any goood recommendations for a place to call home.

Had to clean my glasses a few times when I read that one. lol
I've lived in or around Henderson and Paducah most of my life. Just a couple thousand in population difference between the two. Around here, Paducah is more or less the "hub" for this area, where people go for a good night out, concerts, dinner, shopping, etc. In Henderson, people go across the river to Evansville, In.
Medical care, Paducah has two very good hospitals. We've had experience with both and have no complaints on either one. Henderson has a good hospital and some go to hospitals across the Ohio River in Evansville.
Paducah is just a short drive from Kentucky Lake, Lake Barkley, and the Land Between the Lakes National Recreational Area if you like being outdoors.
Either place I think you'll enjoy it.

Tried to get the web site for rentals in Henderson but they just had an apartment building. Their Chamber of Commerce has a list of rentals

Are you looking for someplace significantly less hot than Charleston, then? Because Western Kentucky is almost identical in climate to Charleston.

Also, you don't mention anything about what your medical issues are, but if they have anything to do with allergies and/or mold issues, this is one of the worst places in the country to live in. Just worth keeping in mind. But if those issues are not important to you, Kygman's got a wealth of information on that area. Good luck!
