I was curious for all those who are in Eastern Kentucky does your land or did you know someone who recently sold or lease their land for coal removal know how much did they ask for each ton that was found?
Does 2.50 a ton or 8% percent whichever is greater seem about right and was it set at this price as dirty or clean coal?

Did you have the coal deposits surveyed and who did you use a Engineer to survey?

I have a cousin in Adair Co who had enough low quality oil to ruin her well water but not enough to drill for

All the coal under our property has been mined out, but we own a coal and gas lease on another property..We lease the coal rights for 2.50 a ton as mined which is divided amongst several family members, our lawyer is negotiating a gas lease on the same property to a major company now for us..Don't know how that will be negotiated as far as payment is concerned..We have a very trustworthy lawyer who has a good engineering firm and they all work together in our favor..It takes years to get some of this stuff settled and sometimes years in court as was our case..

Ok good least I know I am being quoted fairly.
Do you know if it was 2.50 as is dirty or after they wash it?

YOUR AWESOME for the info blue62.

I know your in the Pikeville area but do you know if that attorney works down in the Leslie County and Perry County area?

Thanks for sharing censusdata and I feel for your cousin. I have seen what mining does with sediment in creeks and what you mention with some relatives of mine .

I am heading that way in a few hours to Cuthshin for a few days but Im not selling or leasing the land until I do my homework some more.
