In mid March start tilling the area where you want your garden, add manure/compost/topsoil to get the area ready to plant. By late March or the beginning of April frost shouldn't be an issue, so you can start planting then. I've heard a saying not to plant tomatoes until after Derby weekend as a rule of thumb. I don't know how much truth there is to that though...If you have any specific questions I can try and answer them for you. We usually grow squash, zucchini, tomatoes, jalapeno, cayenne, and bell peppers, Bibb lettuce, strawberries, green beans, pumpkins, cantaloupe, garlic, lima beans, and a lot of different herbs like basil and cilantro. Happy gardening.

Gardner, check with the county extension office in the county you're in. They can give you all the information you could need for where you live.

There are books specific to gardening in Kentucky. Check you library or the Home Depot or Lowe's, I have seen them at all three. Good luck

Default radio show

Listen to 840am on Saturday mornings - there is a gardening show with local callers. Don't know the exact hours but it runs for a couple hours.
