Hi all, the crazy camera lady was in the passenger seat today as we had to drive from Gray to Bristol to the Tri_Cites flea market to get computer parts....I started snapping away! LOL!
I know that sounds crazy...getting computer parts at the flea market, but it is a really big flea market and there is one man that there has a store, has been there for years, good products for fair prices.
Now mind you I did not realize how dirty my windshield was until I looked at these pictures, all I can say is I am sorry and ignore the bug marks please hahahaha
So we left Gray, got on 75 and headed north east to Blountville/Bristol:

We weren't really at a good angle but this is "down town" Blountville
[IMG][/IMG]
Then we hung a right onto 126

Distant view of Bristol Motor Speedway

Then we turned right onto 11E

Theres the Flea Market!

After we got the computer stuff, we had to go to Kingsport to my office to pick up the misbehaving computer so we could fix it. Headed back up 126 and hopped on Interstate 81 and headed back West.

Can't see it to well for the barrier but this is going over one of the Holston River bridges on 81

Then we decided to take the east Kingsport exit and swing through Warriors Path State park and Colonial heights so ya'll can see what that looks like.....See that thread.

What beautiful pictures! Thanks for posting them.

I noticed there are some nice homes that look like they're right next to the Bristol speedway. I can't imagine that. Are there many subdivisions around the speedway? Do those homes go for a premium?

Yes, there are a few VERY LARGE homes next to the speedway. The few I am am speaking of (about 3) are owned by either drivers or Nasscar official types. They are building some down the road a bit, I have no idea what they are going for, I'll have to wait until they are closer to completion and look that up for you. If you have property even remotely close to the speedway, this is automatically income producing property depending on whether you can allow RV parking or camping or just parking on your land you can make a lot of cash 3 times a year. I know of many people who rent out their houses those 3 times a year. Those crazy Nasscar fans will pay big bucks for a house for a week LOL!

mbmouse,

Your pictures are great and we appreciate that fact that you are sharing them with us. Pictures are always helpful to people such as myself who live outside of Tennessee.

Glad you enjoy them and they are able to help those looking at TN get a better idea of what it is like around here. I would hate for anyone to be disillusioned.

Sorry I stuck an "s" in it. My wife corrected me on that-btw she's an English teacher.

Hey that's not a bad idea! Those people who live near the speedway can skip town when there's a race going on but can make money renting out their houses. I like that spirit of entrepeneurship.

Last time I went to NASCAR at Bristol (this year) I waited about 2 hours to get out of the parking lot onto the road. Yes, I wish I could afford an RV or to rent a house!!!

Strangely, I know the computer guy you went to, mbmouse -- or at least I assume I do!
