Thank you all! We will be in Knoxville tomorrow to get a better feel of the areas. Is there any events or anything going on for the weekend. Where are some restaurants that are only in the area and are worth eating?

Where in SC are you moving from? I'm originally from Travelers Rest, SC (near Greenville).

It really depends on what you are looking for.

I would suggest Litton's Restaurant in Fountain City for a taste of our local people and food. I live in this town. Go on Saturday for two reasons. First of all the Florida game will be at Neyland Stadium so you will probably want to avoid downtown. And Sunday Litton's is closed. I would suggest going downtown on Sunday for a very quiet day. Perhaps you could catch a bite at Market Square. Knoxville Market Square District Association

Here's a list of everything going on in Knoxville this weekend. The Tennessee Valley Fair is in town. A production of Amadeus is at the Clarence Brown Theater.

Okay, thanks. Then is there a particular reason that you want to move to Halls? The only reason I am asking is it isn't always easy to get to a major highway from there, but it does depend on where you in Halls you will be living.

Well after spending most of Friday and all of Saturday looking at the different areas, we determined that West Knoxville or Farragut might suit our needs better. Farragut schools seem like they are great schools. We also like Turkey Creek, even though traffic was terrible! And Hik the Fountain City area was a BEAUTIFUL area. If we lived there we would want an older, updated house. Most of the houses we saw for sale were newer houses.

EXCELLENT choices!

I come up with 97 homes in the Fountain City area that are older than 60 years. But Farragut and West Knoxville are absolutely awesome places to live, too!

First, welcome to Tennessee!!

We moved here in October of last year from Ohio; so I know what you are going through...where to live, what to do, etc etc. Let me tell you that these folks here on this forum are great and have they wonderful suggestions, etc.

We live in the Kodak area, which is the tip of Sevier County. Personally, we like the area because it's quiet. We feel we have the best of both worlds, as we are halfway between Knoxville and Sevierville. We have family in Sevierville and we both work in Knoxville.

The traffic snarls of West Knox are a nightmare...they aren't as bad as I've dealt with in Cincinnati Ohio by no means, but it's still bad at times. The worst for me is sitting at a traffic light that lets 4 cars through and turns red....just gets my goat! lol!! We like "visiting" Turkey Creek, but I couldn't live there. However, it is a wonderful area!

Fountain City is so amazing. So much history and the like. And Halls/Powell are great areas too. Not too far from Knoxville but still many amenities to choose from.

It's a hard decision to make, I know what you are dealing with, and I wish you the best. Welcome to the area!
