Hey all...it looks like we will be moving to the Knoxville area sometime next summer (job transfer) from west Tennessee. Going to go ahead and start doing my homework. After doing a little research, we are looking at the areas of Maryville, Halls, and Bearden. I have three children who are high school and middle school age. Would like info on these three areas as to the pro's and con's of each....... housing, schools, commute (going downtown), neighbors, things to do, etc. etc. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I believe one of the biggest things you have to look at is what types of activities are you kids in to. I believe that the commute from each of these areas mentioned are all pretty equal. I know that Maryville has an excellent school, and the other 2 are not bad either. In the Bearden area, make sure that you deal with a real estate agent that knows the boundaries of the rezoning for the new Hardin Valley academy. What was once dividing lines between Farragut, Karns, Bearden and West is now a big pile of mush. There seems to be some realtors on this forum that could probably help in that regards. Also, find a mortgage broker/banker up front to make your transition even easier.

When I moved back to TN from Atlanta, we interviewed all of the schools around the West Knox area before making our decision. Not sure what part of the state you are coming from, but traffic is not bad here - no matter where you live. Time spent in Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, and California has me a bit skewed, however.

Good luck with your move and feel free to PM if you need more info
