I wasn't being rude about it and feel I shouldn't be getting it back. Thanks. I was merely stating I wanted a specific area. We know all about the area I was just wondering if I missed a neighborhood or two. We are looking to be in the action and have lots to do. We also don't want to be in an area where we are known by everyone..We have lived in that style tiny town several times..We would like to blend into the tourism a little for a while. Maybe I should have stated that a little more about wanting to stay close to Sevierville/pigeon forge. Everyone's input was great but it's a little further east than we want to go. We are open to neighborhoods or towns 10/ 15 min east of Sevierville if there are any that are historic. But we will get a realtor if we can't nail anything down more solid to look into before then. Thanks for everyone's help.

It's going to be hard to "be in the action" of a touristy area yet find housing that doesn't fit that environment. Speaking from experience, Market Square and Old City in Knoxville have more to offer once you've had your fill of bumper cars and pancake houses. We have three adult children who will tell you the same thing.

We've also owned an old home. I ignored the advice that those beautiful old homes are money pits ... now I know. Something is always going wrong and you'll never be able to fix it to where it doesn't (except in our case when we had a house fire and rebuilt).

If you find something affordable and close to work and/or friends, a weekend drive down to Pigeon Forge will seem fine. You'll probably get the hiking bug like the rest of us and make the trails your weekend entertainment.
