I would like to know how the move went. We are a family from Monterey, ca and are planning our move that way in the next year or so.

I just moved here from the San Diego/Temecula area in July. I love it here. Had the opportunity to check out the Lexington, KY area too and I think I like it just as much as I do Knoxville.

I was born n raised in So. CA. Moved to Nashville in the 80's and fell in love with Tennessee, her people and way of life. I had to go back to CA to work on the C-17 program. Then to TX to work on the V-22 for 10 years! My husband and I retired to Crossville about 6 years ago. We LOVE it. The seasons, great state to travel in and out of. Great places to hike, fish, boat, and camp all over the state. Nothing like the Great Smoky Mountains.
I belong to The Crab Orchard Chapter, NSDAR! A great and active chapter. I know there are several chapters in and around Knoxville. Can you get on the NSDAR website to locate a chapter?
We also rented until we found a home in Crossville. We had an apartment for 3 months. It was important to me to find a DAR chapter so I understand that.
