Hello, my husband may take an offer in the Lenore area. What areas should we look at? We will rent first

6 months up to two years. We are a moderate conservative family of five 3 boys

Were not a must have type of family, yet these things would be nice.

.25 acre and up with boat parking

3/4 bedrooms,or two living areas ( we home school )

pool would be nice

non-denominational community church that's big on outreach, where we can wear shorts and not get that

LOOK.

home-school co-ops and groups with-in 10 mi.

Thank you, Pam

zfam,

We moved to the area about 7 years ago. I haven't seen the homeschooling community around here like I did in Ohio. I'm curious what you find now. We settled in Maryville because of the school district.

As for pools, that's another thing we really wanted and ended up giving up. We wondered why so few homes have pools with all the nice weather ... it's because of the bedrock. It's really expensive to dig for a pool and it's not uncommon to think you have a soft ground area and then hit rock that requires expensive tools and time. We just put our home on the market to downsize and pursue a pool again. We figure we have to build on a lot with a slope so the pool can be installed and then filled in rather than dug out.

Now for churches. That was our first question here on city-data.com when we were moving to the area:

We found an awesome non-denominal church that didn't reject my non-immersion baptism -- Blount Community Church. We have been meeting in a school gym for many years BUT this past year we paid cash for land and most of a building and broke ground. We're expected to be in our new church home (on 321) in late September.

If your a true Baptist in regards to immersion, Foothills Church next door to our church has a good service. They don't claim to be baptist, but you find out that they are when you go through partner classes.

If you want a good church closer to Knoxville, OneLife Church is one to check out. The pastor is excellent and it is also a big outreach and casual church, but my biggest complaint was how loud the music was. They hand out earplugs. lol

Good luck on your hunt. Feel free to reach out to me privately if you want some local advice. I'm not a realtor or anything. I have just transplanted enough times to know how to plug into a community quickly.
