Drop the kids at the NASCAR Speed Park right by the Tanger Outlets. It's on the main parkway.
Even if the outside tracks are closed because of the rain, the state-of-the-art arcade will keep them happy for a long time.
NASCAR SpeedPark Sevierville, TN Other Attractions (http://www.nascarspeedpark.com/seviervilleother.html - broken link)
It's got every type of simulator you can imagine and on many of them they can compete against each other.

Wonderworks is up the parkway from Gatlinburg. I wish someone would go and let me know how it is! One of those things I always wanted to do and never did before I left.

I wasn't wowed by the Ripley Museum. It seemed to have a lot of pictures of oddities, rather than the oddities themselves.

Thanks for the suggestions yesterday. We went to Ripleys and that was pretty entertaining. Did a little shopping as the rain held off long enough. Today it is Dollywood and the National Park...gotta squeeze it all in, as we leave tomorrow early...

Default Things to do for a 19 yr old during spring break?

First off, I'm new here. Only lived here (Blount) a month. My son is coming home from college for spring break. He's coming with his roommate.

I've been settling in and haven't paid much attention to what there is to do for college age people.

I'm hoping to give him some options for things to do -- so that he comes back often.

TIA
Phil

Not exactly in Knoxville, and maybe not the sort of thing you had in mind, but my son and friends are driving from UTK to North Carolina during spring break in order to try their hand at skiing and snow tubing for the first time.
Last year they spent a part of their spring break camping in GSMNP and had a good time just hiking and exploring.

I'm hoping to keep him close by. He's up from Fla. I was thinking about hiking. Hadn't thought about camping...

The Smoky Mountain Field School might have something of interest. They do hikes and some very good programs about the ecology of the Smoky Mountains.

Check Metropulse, the free weekly, for upcoming music events and things going on downtown.
The Big Ears Music Festival is downtown, March 26-27, if he'll be here then. If he likes any kind of music, he'll want to check that out.

What does he like to do and what do you usually do together where you used to live?
