My friend needs someone to stay at her house one weekend in June and watch her cats. The person has to stay there (not commute back and forth) because one cat needs meds at bedtime and first thing in the morning. She has looked at the options on Rover but really doesn't want a stranger, especially someone young who she is afraid might have people over. What do other cat owners do who don't want their cats in a kennel, and they need meds or have a special diet?

Often I will enlist a neighbor, or friend that lives nearby, to drop in at the necessary times to feed, walk, and administer meds. I wouldn't trust a random stranger of any age to be in my home when I'm not there, but that's just a thing I have about privacy/security. As an alternative, she could board the cat at a pet boarding facility, or often your veterinarian may offer boarding services for just a couple nights.

Is your friend in Knox or Blount county?

she's in Knox, the west hills area. She's in a new home so she doesn't know the neighbors well yet. She wants the cats in their own environment. I guess she is afraid of stressing them out somewhere else. You really do have to have a friend or family member that can help, otherwise it's really difficult. I don't want a stranger in my home either, but I understand her dilemma.

Oh I thought she was in Seymour. This place has amazing accommodations for cats and dogs. At 21.50 per day for cats, it's cheaper than most petsitters would charge for 2 visits per day. It's on Kingston Pike in Farragut.

I'll bet if Dr. Allie doesn't do it, she'll know who will. She is a Vet (Laps of Love 865-309-5665) who only does home-call hospice and euthanasia. We used her when our little Sierra was in her last day. Dr. Alley was so compassionate.
