Long-time residents talk about the amazing revival that has occurred in Knoxville over the last decade. Is Knoxville the coolest city in TN?

Oh no..... Looks like the city upped their PR budget for this fiscal year. Maybe makes sense with all the vacancies, but still.

In my business I prefer dealing with people who think for themselves so this is not necessarily a good thing. Let all the trend followers move to Chattanooga if they can't afford Nashville.

Lots going on in Knoxville. A great city that flies under the radar but has slowly picked up steam the past few years.

Love to see downtown coming alive, as well as Old City over the years. Keep it goin, Knoxville.

Did it really say "grand hotels"?

I will say we do have an amazing festival scene and outdoor lifestyle. Hands down, wonderful.

My wife and I, having moved to TN ten weeks ago, love going into to Knoxville for the various festivals, bars and restaurants.

So easy to get into, free trolley service plus free parking on weekends. . It appears to be a very well managed city given the low taxes compared to where we left. Too bad other cities can't or won't take few pages out of their book.

We've been to Knoxville more times in those ten weeks than the 30 years we lived in NJ going into NYC.

I grew up in NJ and if I was going into NYC, it was usually on a school field trip. Having moved here from Atlanta, where traffic and parking is such a challenge, I also appreciate Knoxville's easy access to downtown. It seems like there is always something going on. This weekend is the East Tennessee History Fair with many of the historic sites offering open houses. I don't plan to miss it! East Tennessee History Fair | East Tennessee Historical Society

I think Knoxville is doing a tremendous job managing growth with improvement and quality of life. I just went through Intro Knoxville to learn more about what Knoxville is all about and was so impressed. We have a lot of passionate people fighting to keep Knoxville vibrant and fun. Our leadership is good too and I love that we have a Democratic City Mayor and a Republican County Mayor and still get things done! haha

(Welcome to Knoxville, doc1)

Thank you KathiOH1!

My wife and I started planning our escape from NJ to TN, once I pulled the pin on my career, about 10 years ago.

We're very happy to be in TN.

When visiting NYC, I'll sometimes stay in NJ.

The people I've observed in Knoxville, in general, just seem so much happier than people I've seen (those who are obviously commuting) going between Manhattan and NJ.

I am retired and I much prefer the livability of a small city over a major metro area. People stuck on I-75 in Atlanta every rush hour don't look too happy either. Knoxville hits a good balance in being small enough to easily get around, but large enough to offer lots of activities and amenities.
