We are moving to TN next month. We have narrowed it down to two homes in Loudon County, both are 10 acres or more. I have checked codes and made phone calls and it seems we are not allowed to build more homes on the property. We need a home for my elderly parents and homes for my adult children. They wont allow tiny homes, (nothing on wheels) so our only option is a yurt? We are very frustrated because we have a dream we wish to live, but we also have people we must take care of. Any ideas on how to fight this or get around this law?

Thanks for any advice!

Is there a possibility of dividing the 10 acres into two 5 acre parcels? Or find another property that is zoned for multiple dwellings.

Did you ask WHY you can't have more than one home on these ten acre sites?

1. Oftentimes it's because the property won't perk.

I'm in Middle Tennessee. Down around the corner there is a horse training barn on 98 acres. Not one piece of that 98 acres will perk so the developer who wanted to build 9 million houses on it wouldn't buy it. We were all heart broke -- not

2. Or the original owner(s) of the properties you are interested in may have built in some deed restrictions. I've also seen that down on the other road. The deed restrictions in these instances regard keeping chickens and mobile homes.
