I have my temperature set between 80-82 degrees. It seems like it's turning on more than it should be, like every 10 minutes. Is this normal? I am asking because I've never had central air before living in Montana and NYC. My last power bill for 20 days was $90.90. I'm scared to open the new bill for this month

Upper floor...so $90.00 for 20 days, not a full month 650 sq ft apartment is average when it's been this hot?

most likely normal.. unfortunately, you are on an upper floor... Heat rises..... i believe that you can go on nevada energy's website and see the average for your apartment for each month... granted i have a bigger house 2400sf w/pool.. i keep the ac at 81.. my bill was just under 500., so figure at least 125. it will also matter how old your complex is, the newer the better...

Ok thanks airics, it is an older complex so maybe that's why. I checked before I moved in here and was told on Nevada's automated phone system that the average monthly bill for this apartment was $87.00. But maybe last summer wasn't as hot for such an extended period

remember that is average... so you should be around 30ish in the cool months and 125ish in the hot months...

Apartment air conditioning units are very inefficient and do no longer shut off and come right back on. I assume your apartment has no ceiling fans, but they do help with circulating the air. If the air isn't cool coming out of the vents, ask the office to check to see if it needs freon. Your bill sounds high to me for a small area and only 20 days for the temperature setting.

Cool air is coming out but maybe not enough. There is one ceiling fan in the dining room area. I am moving the end of this month to another apartment complex in a bottom floor apartment. We'll see how the power bill is then, but then again it's not July/August. September could be just as hot though the way it's looking
