There was a much better story, with more details, in Monday's Review-Journal:

The casino will stay open during the renovation. Maybe some of the hotel workers will be kept on in the casino??? That hotel is 40 years old. Isn't it about time?

Anything that they can do to the Plaza would be an improvement. The wife and I went into the casino a few months ago and the inside looked just nasty. I tried to use the bathroom but the smell was so bad that I walked out, and as I was turning around a panhandler was asking for money from people using the urinals. NASTY.

I agree, the Plaza is nasty. Needs a facelift, bad.

Firefly was a good start. I hope the plaza is sincere in their intent to reopen. Why they couldn't have done this in phases, remodel one side first and then the other, while retaining good employees, is beyond me.

The casino is what really needs a facelift.

Don't confuse default on loans as something going out of business. WMC is going to remain a fixture on the Vegas landscape, just they have to get through the downtown in the furniture business for some time all related to the housing downturn.

as dirty as the casino is....the rooms are 10 times worse....

Even the Chinese tour groups [the ones that bring the bedbugs to us] won't stay there.

Sooooo, are they booking with you? Just wondering! My sister is staying on Fremont on Halloween night. Said the best rates with the best reviews were Four Queens. I have never stayed there, so I have no real input there.

I think I am going to start telling people if they come to visit me, to make their stay on the Strip/Fremont at the END of their stay. I don't want any bugs coming back to my house!
