As far as I can interpret, you get to have 6 trash items to be picked up (cans or bags), no greater than 33 gallons and 50 lbs.

Doing a lot of yard work lately, I had a trash can (32 gal) and 5 trash bags out, the heaviest about 45 lbs - yes, I weighed it - and when I got back home, the can was emptied but the bags were all left on the curb. ??

Have I misinterpreted the rules? I would happily help the guys out, and tip em, if they thought the bags were heavy - if I only could guess what time they get past here so I could be home. Since I moved here, they have been picking up the trash anywhere between 6.30 am to 4.30 pm. Weird.

I will probably call them, but I was hoping someone here had an answer before Monday.

If they are using the new system, they will only pick up the containers, not the bags outside the containers. They only have one guy driving the truck now, they let the other one go that used to pick up bags, etc. The new trucks are all automated and as long as your garbage receptacles fit within the arm that picks them up, then they will go.
You should check the schedule to see when they pick up the extra items, it's usually once a month in our area. Then they will pick up the extra bags. Old appliances, etc. If you don't have a schedule, ask for one to be mailed to you.

But plenty of my neighbors have nothing but bags - no containers at all. And their stuff got picked up. And they still do have one guy riding on the back to grab stuff, at least a couple of weeks ago.

I never knew about the outside bag policy. Yesterday, I put out two trash cans and about 7 external bags filled with yard debris. They took it all. Earlier in the week, somebody placed a bunch of loose palm fronds out, which I was sure was going to be left behind. They were picked up as well.

I suppose the lazy way to find out is to put it out at the curb. If they take it, great! If they don't...maybe next week?

I know they really frown at loose yard debris.

depends on what neighborhood you're in. some have gone to the new system and some still have the 2 occupant trucks with one guy driving and one guy picking up just about anything on the curb, if he can. usually loose fronds need to be tied/bundled for them to pick them up. I am in a neighborhood that has once per week pickup with regular trash in one bin and recycleables in another, using an automated truck with one driver. but every other week they send a normal truck to pick up bulk items that wont fit into one of their containers.

Weird. I guess I'll have to call em tomorrow, and find out what's up. I had everything neatly packed in trash bags, ready to just toss into the back of the truck...

It almost seems like a personal thing since they took the neighbors and not yours. Are you putting things out on the curb by the street? Or by your garage? The closer to the street and next to your bins would be preferred. Call them and find out why they didn't take yours when they took your neighbors trash.

They were all lined up on the edge of the curb. I'll call and find out I guess. Maybe if I label the weight and a TY on the bags...

They do not pick up appliances over 50lbs,I was told on the phone.I had replaced my water softener (65lbs) and was told I had to bring it to the dump myself. This is what happens when they are the only game in town.
