Hello all

This is my first post since finding this forum.
My wife and I are 60 years old, self employed. We have three grown children and we have been coming to Las Vegas for over 35 years now. Some years one trip but lately two to three times a year. We also have rental property in Northwest Las Vegas. All totaled we have stayed on the strip over 40 times and at 12 locations. One of our daughters was married in Las Vegas eight years ago.

We have stayed at Circus many times through the years. No, it is not the pinncale of hotspots on the strip. But if folks are going to Las Vegas with value in mind, it is hard to beat.

If I watch the websites I can fly to Las Vegas (from Minnesota) for under $200 per person round trip. I can rent a car on orbitz (standard, not compact) for under $20. And we stayed at Circus two weeks ago for $22 per night (plus fees and taxes). Since we only use the room for sleeping and relaxing a bit, most any room will do. And since we always get a car, most any location will be fine for us.

Now, having said that, we will be back out in May with our son and his girlfriend. Since she has never been to Las Vegas, we will likely stay at either New York New York or the Luxor or maybe the Monte Carlo. These hotels have great locations, very good room rates relative to other comparable hotels, and give a great Las Vegas experience without the high end pricetag. A young couple can see much from that area with just a small amount of footwork.

If someone is on a budget coming to Las Vegas, I would recommend checking the rates at the Stratosphere and renting a small car. There are few families there and the rooms are basic but very nice. We have stayed there three times with no regrets. And don't forget to check out the discount ticket places for shows.

LOL! Good point!

I remember my first trip to Las Vegas and the group I was with were looking for a new buffet/casino/place to visit. None of us had ever been to Vegas before so we thought we'd try Circus Circus not knowing what was in store.

We came on a particular day when it was full of kids running everywhere behaving badly. The floors, tables and most areas were covered in food and litter with lots of strange things ground into the carpets. It was as if the cleaning crew had decided to all quit on the same day. Really shocking and unappetizing although I remember the prices for food were very cheap. I guess that would explain all the families hanging out there.

I love NYNY, never stayed at Luxor or Monte Carlo, but I wouldn't say they are great locations. Flamingo is a great location and if you don't mind cheap and cheesy there is always Imperial Palace . Anyway, have fun!!!

I have always found something endearing about Circus Circus... a place that was okay to visit because of all the history(movie and otherwise), but there was no way you were going to live there.

sure CC used to be shiny and new, sure slots O fun's hotdog/chili-dogs or there shrimp cocktails used to be to die for.

Somehow, I dont think vegas would be the same with out CC

Circus Circus is like the riverside of las vegas.

We can disagree on this one. Blow that crap apart, clean up the mess, and build a Stardust/D.I./Sands/Flamingo-themed "Old Vegas" super resort in it's place.

I'll bet it'd be the most popular resort on the strip, if done right.

The two things I remember from the one time I stayed there - shower heads in the guest rooms were made to accommodate people no taller than 5-foot-1, and the buffet was in the same class with the Riviera, Terrible's and Circus Circus. That is not a compliment.

The location and the car museum on site are its major advantages.
I stayed at IP and it was just fine for us! Very cheap, but the beds were comfy and the room was clean. It's the PERFECT location on the strip. We had a ground floor outside room, so we could bypass the casino and get to the street if we wanted. Very convenient. We loved watching the Dealertainers and the fact that Hash House A Go Go was upstairs. I'd recommend it, and I would stay there again. To me spending a lot on a hotel room is a waste of money in a place like Vegas. We just needed a place to shower and sleep, so it served it's purpose. Not the nicest pool, but it was sufficient. (We got in to see the pools at Caesars...that was incredible!)

I didn't have an issue with the shower (I'm 5'6"). I didn't try the buffet.

I'm not a kid person, so CC is the last place I'd stay. Excalibur is the second to last. I didn't see any strollers in Vegas until we got to Excalibur (We saw the Australian BeeGees show).

I agree. Implode it! And on the more humorous side, I would build a large ferris wheel there. Maybe 500 ft high or so... It can be known as an observation wheel but heck let's throw a twist to it. When a capsule gets to the highest point, a door will open and you can jump out on a cable for a controlled fall at 7 mph. And for the ending, a free buffet at the one section not to be imploded ( the cc buffet)
