How much $$ per year on Property Tax and House Insurance?

Just curious how much most of you pay for these things for your property in Nevada.

Is that high or low compared to other states across the U.S.? Maybe comparisons if you lived elsewhere...

In addition to Las Vegas I've lived in Cobb County, GA, Fulton County, GA and Pennington County, SD. Comparing property taxes the rate is about the same as Cobb County but much lower than Fulton and Pennington. Mine is about .8% of the actual value which is half of what it was in SD.

My homeowner's insurance here is about 1/3 the amount it was anywhere else. I'm in a very low crime zip code plus I don't think there is much in the way of natural disasters that affect LV. No tornados, hail storms, blizzards, wind damage etc and the homes are designed to resist outside fires as they roofs are not shingled so you're really only insuring against theft and internal fires.

Rule of thumb...1% for property tax. 1/2 percent for insurance. Insurance is probably a tad high but good for this kind of estimate...it won't be more than...

That is LOW!

I was viewing another state, and it was more like US$6,000/year!!

I'm quickly getting the impression that property tax is low in Nevada. I heard it was already, but the theme here is confirming that

The tax situation in NV is great all around. The only really terrible tax is on car tags which run about 2-3% of the car if it is relatively new.

Since our houses and land is similar, I wonder why your tax is HALF what mine is, according to olecapt if we follow the 1% rule, I'm close.

1% 135,000 = 1350 a Year in Taxes I pay Tax: $1466.28

What did you pay for your house?

(after thought) Ya know, I think you quoted 1/2 a Year to us, If I double it, then the amount is $1464.00

Okay, now it's going to be even more confusing trying to figure out what person is going to pay for taxes when they purchase a property. Before you could figure 1 roughly of the purchase price and get an idea of what the taxes would be. But now even if you paid a low price for a property doesn't mean your going to get a lower rate. Because of so many properties selling at extremely low prices the county has taken the set rate to figuire taxes off the table.

Some property taxes to increase for valley homes

Although Clark County is still mired in a recession and the real estate market is in a deep funk, more than 280,000...
