The Vegas fantasy is a James Bond looking guy with a blonde on each arm and a stack of chips at a baccarat table.

The Vegas reality is an elderly woman in a motorized wheelchair, wearing a shirt reading, "Kiss my ass, I'm retired," huffing oxygen and smoking a Camel Light in front of a penny slot machine.

I didn't realize that there was no right to refuse service.

as much as we wold LOVE to ...unless they are unruly at checkin we're stuck....

One time....YEARS ago, our Genius marketing director came up with a scheme to fill the hotel. ANY ROOM unrented after 4 pm checkin time was $4.95.

The FIRST day he did it was the FRIDAY of the GREATFUL DEAD concert...640 rooms 3940 deadheads

THE the Fremont Street Winos caught on [this was during construction of the FSE and things were REALLY bad downtown.] and they were coming in 10 to a room with $5.75 in quarters [to cover the room tax] we had to institute a $100.00 CASH or Credit Card deposite to stop that....

It would be nice if we could do it on an individual basis....scum walks up and the deposit goes to $5000 but we cant.

I got onto the Elevator....a sweet little girl [a "spinner"] about 16 said to me "Sir, would you like a blow job?"

I said "No thanks, I already had one."

Got onto it going back up to the office and there was a kid with a 3 foot long LIME GREEN Iguana on his head.

Seems to me it is time for a dress code.

I agree as a frequent visitor to LV (10-12 times per year for last 5 years) and plenty before that too, I have found places like MGM and NYNY, which were once at the top, seem to now have more of the "Excalibur" patrons, with beer coolers and McDonald's bags in hand.

remember, thats a function of the economy....people thaqt used to stay downtown are now staying out on the strip....everyones moved up a couple of notches....that will repair itself as the rates return to normal.

As to the dress code...again it goes to the Nevada Host Law...we cant refuse service....

Maybe the Hotel/Casinos need to lobby politicians to change the law. People will not stay where they don't feel safe.
