With the news of RB opening in the fall, I decided to drive the area today and see what progress has been made. We all have to remember that RB has been closed a number of years and after my visit with the attached pictures, there is still NO WAY that this course will be in playable condition in the fall let alone the end of the year.

Now with that said, there is work being done. Crews are removing dead brush and outlining the bunkers and greeens; however, that is the only work done. There has been no watering done whatsoever compared to Falls which could easily have re-opened if needed.

Want to be clear that I am looking forward to hitting the first drive when it re-opens; however, it would be an epic fail if they rush opening to poor conditions especially when the heat is right around the corner. I really think they should put off the opening to next Spring.

I will give several posts which show RB compared to Falls conditions!

Thank you so much for posting these..my brother and I were recently discussing the status of RB and I found very few current photos of the course online. We both really hope to see LLV make a comeback that exceeds expectations.

Is the casino still slated for the end of May? One of my clients is hosting their conference at the Hilton the following week. My company travels with her and provides her a/v needs for her conferences and I'd like to give her good news!

Glad to help. Just grinds my gears like Peter Griffin to hear unrealistic claims to be open in the fall when the course hasn't seen a drop of water in years, the fairways are basically dirt with hay and will not get green anytime soon especially with the heat of summer around the corner. It will take several months just to get all the bunkers and greens reset then several more months to aerate, seed, and fertilize the course. Right now crews are just starting to clear brush and clean up trees.

I see there are a few golfers here, we should have a C-D outing once the course re-opens.

It seems to me that if they're planning on opening Reflection Bay in the fall, they'll probably over seed the fairways with rye in August-September in order to be ready for an October-November opening. There's no reason to seed Bermuda now just to have it go dormant right around the time they open. That's probably why they're not watering now.

Remember when they seeded with rye on the Falls green-grass project last October, it went from brown to a beautiful green in 2-3 weeks.

My concern with that is that they will try to rush it so the course re-opens to conditions like Tuscany and their junk greens then to add insult to injury try to charge over $100/round. They need to do it right, not over-promise and under-deliver.

I was in Las Vegas Golf over at Boca Park and one of the managers actually told someone that the greens at Tuscany were at 14 on the stimp
Absolutely laughable as Tuscany typically has some of the slowest greens in town plus TPC Las Vegas was only 11.5 when I played there 2 weeks ago.

Rant over, feeling better!

Golfinnova, your concern about rushing the reopening is a valid one. I was surprised that they didn't just push it to the spring. My hope is that Arnold Palmer Course Management is experienced in this type of renovation.

I think we all are looking forward to the opening and hoping it's done right. As a homeowner on Reflection Bay, we're so looking forward to living on an operating course.

So much for my theory of not watering until late summer/fall. Beginning this week, they've been watering the crap out of Reflection Bay.
