The key was having my PILB card before doing the interviews and moving to an apartment managed by the same company where I left....PLANNING ahead!
Thanks for the info. Planning ahead, your right. I have seen Angel Management Group advertise job openings on Craigslist. I see they manage a few popular clubs. Was skeptical because I see this awkard Craigslist post bashing security at Marquee. Not sure if its a scam or if all clubs are like that. But your story sounds legit. At the club you work at, do you get tips? Also how easy or difficult is the job? I have never actually done club security, bouncer, or doorman positions so is it stressful, difficult, easy? Controlling the line? Your right about the PILB card. I was very confused at first trying to figure this all out a I think casino security doesn't need to get a PILB card, unless armed. But now I realize if I really want to get hired fast, I should have a PILB card, TAM card, and gaming registration, which I can't actually get till hired. Convention security seems pretty straight forward. Looks like everyone starts out at part time and as long as it pays the bills, that works until I can get full time, with benefits hopefully.

Thanks for giving me the starting slary, since the officers I talked too avoided it. 12 dollars is not a lot, but thats about the going rate here in California, and I think standards of living in Nevada are slightly lower. Unfortunately I am not ex-military, but hopefully the EMT will give me a leg up. I also don't gamble or play the casino games so I am unfamiliar with the games and unable to work surveillance, at least for now. I guess I'll have to learn it if I want to move up. Is it really a dead end job? Are there no opportunities to promote to like security supervisor? I do want to go into law enforcement someday, but if there are enough opportunities and advancement in casino security iteself, I would consider it a career. The goal of course would be someday to make it to director of security.

Sure Casino Security has a chain of command also. There is training officers and assistant Shift Supervisors. Shift Supervisors all of them will get you a increase of pay. It could be just what you need until you get accepted into the police academy. Most Casino Security Directors are ex law enforcement managers or ex FBI.

Yea even here, the securty directors I have worked with are former special forces, and retired law enforcement. Except, one, who actually worked his way up, even though he made security director of a shopping mall with 60 security officers at age 29. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks

I work with a guy who was at Marquee...he says it's very poorly run.

NO! Only senior guys get the tips.

Hard to say...I thought it was easy, others find it impossible. I've been bouncing for years, am ex-Marine, had great letter of rec from the GM at a club, am 6' 275 and dressed well to the interview.

It's hard to GET experience or hired without it. You gotta have a thick skin, stay calm and a quick wit helps....people definitely try to push your buttons.

I think all security needs PILB armed or unarmed...I could be wrong, but it's the only card you can get without employer sponsorship and without being here. You'll only get a provisional until you are employed but it counts a lot having the provisional. I'm finding getting into the casinos to be a long process...

Besides the casino/hotel security, anyone have info on the private security industry in Las Vegas off the strip. I found this company online called Las Vegas Protective Services, they seem legit. Anyone heard of them? or Andrews International?
