Never know, something positive and new like this could spark some life into getting that end of the Strip cleaned up. CC is probably making a bigger profit than City Center or Cosmopolitan. So much for fancy Manhattan-style casinos/buildings in Las Vegas.

I always thought this was a terrible business plan. People love the silly themes, and building office buildings instead of one of a kind buildings was a mistake IMO. People don't want their adult playground to look like that office park where they work back home.

Maybe(?) But that's a huge hole and I just don't see it penciling out...

On the other hand, Carl Icahn bought Fontainebleu for $150M, I see some upside potential there.

I think Las Vegas should look like Las Vegas -- Stardust, Sands, Dunes, Flamingo, etc.

All this New York, Paris, Venice crap is for the birds. We should stop trying to be what we're not, and just go over the top with with we are.

THAT, I think, is why I love Fremont so much. It seems more authentic or something, more like the real Las Vegas IMO.

On my trip I spent about 90 minutes on the strip (other than just driving it) and at least half of that was spent walking from my car and back. (I wanted to watch the Bellagio fountains just once and I parked at Casears so I could walk through...I love that place). I really didn't want to spend more time on the strip.

If you include debt they are, but comparing a long ago paid off building against a new one with a mortgage is a silly comparison. The building of the new casinos are in hindsight bad decisions with poor returns, but they are there and not going anywhere.

I understand that, (and I knew someone was going to point that out) but it was just to make a point about why they keep the cheesy place. I agree, bad decisions. I also agree that they aren't going anywhere soon (unless you count the Harmon and who knows what is happening with that) apparently neither is the Fontainebleau and Echelon.

Even during the boom MGM was clear that they had no intention of imploding Circus Circus. It offered them a great return and a unique product.
