I'm starting to plan a trip for a couple of nights in Vegas for my boyfriend & I, leaving on 12/24 & returning on 12/26. I know for sure that I want to go to a couple of buffets & go to a Cirque du Soliel show for sure.

I want to stay at one of the newest hotels, but not pay an arm & a leg. I'm thinking Aria.

Which buffets are BEST for breakfast & dinner?

Which Cirque show is the best? I kind of wanted to see Criss Angels' Believe or O.

I haven't been to Vegas since around 2005, so give me all the must-see's & must-do's. NO, we don't drink, gamble or party/dance. I LOVE to shop, but I don't want to go to stores that are so pricey that I can't buy a darn thing!

I can't help you with buffets because I don't eat at them, but I can tell you that you'd be better off with "O" or "Love" than "Believe" for a Cirque show. For an excellent non-buffet breakfast, try the Grand Lux at The Venetian.

As far as shopping without spending a fortune, we have some decent outlet malls. (Google Las Vegas Premium Outlets) If you stay at Aria, you'll be next to the Crystals mall which is pretty tony $$$. Aria is part of City Center, which is enormous.

OP here. Thanks. You know I ws thinking, maybe I should start my trip AFTER CHRISTMAS. I don't want to be on vacation on a holiday, such as TG or Christmas when most things are closed & I have to resort to scarmbling to find whatever's open OR stay stuck in my hotel room. That's a waste of a day to me...unless there's enough to do.

Maybe I'll change the trip to 12/27 - 12/29. What does everyone think?

Plus, I'd like more activities suggestions.

My favorite buffet is at MGM Grand, the variety is wonderful, morning or lunch, or evening...Totally wonderful food. Tour using the people mover, there are underground malls, I believe under Cesars Palace.
The Fremont Experience is fun at night...just park close in...older part of town. There are shuttle buses that go to the shopping away from Vegas...I've done them, and wouldn't suggest it on only couple days there. I hope you are flying in at night....Nothing like seeing the Vegas lights flying in...Like a giant jewelry box...amazing view. Check the Stratosphere...if you like scarey rides, plus the top is like the Empire state building, wraps around observation deck...really worth the 5 bucks to go up that you pay if you aren't staying there. New York, New York has lots of things for young people..incl. roller coaster etc.
Mandalay Bay has a beach...I sent my daughter and her hubby there..They loved it. I hear some of the older hotels smell a lot like cigarettes...so avoid if you don't care for that.
Lots of good info online...Las Vegas Online Entertainment Guide - Complete information about Las Vegas Vegas is so much more than just gambling. Lots of families go there these days. Have fun!! And save some slot money for the airport slot machines....lol

I would avoid the Holidays if it were me...More because flights get so bungled around holidays. I went in Oct. it was perfect...Not too hot, no holidays. And really 3-5 days if you want to see everything. Check online, lots of hotel bargains off season.... MGM Grand http://www.mgmgrand.com/ Lots of info...including a wide variety of restaurants...here is the buffet I was referring to. http://www.mgmgrand.com/restaurants/...nd-buffet.aspx
Each hotel should have a very inclusive website...many will have specials and exclusive offers...I envy you!! Have a blast.

Wicked Spoon @ City Center is my favorite. The buffets at Wynn and Bellagio are also very well reviewed, but I haven't been to either of them.

This is Las Vegas. No worries. All you have to do is make sure that the shows you want to see are running on the night you want to see them, and that whatever stores you want to go to will be open. It's unlikely that you'll have much of a problem in that regard, as long as you stick to the touristy stuff.

Prices go up for the holidays. Premiums are put on the buffets. The best buffets are considered the Wynn, the M, Bellagio or the Wicked Spoon at Aria. Stay away from the new Bacchanal one at Caesars. I believe in previous years I have seen $10 or so added to the normal price. A nice treat is Lawry's, known for their prime rib and they have carolers that come to your table at this time of year. If you go thru Bellagio, make sure you view the conservatory as it will be done nicely for Christmas.

Shopping is very pricey on the Strip. Then again, perhaps you are a customer of Gucci, Chanel and Cache. It will also probably be quite windy as the winds tend to come in during Dec., January. If you don't mind outlet shopping, there are two nice ones but arriving over Christmas, I would tend to think most merchandise would be gone or picked over.

We went last Christmas for our second Christmas trip on the 24th to 28th and actually enjoy it. The prices actually go down during this time and up on the 29/30/NYE for all the New Years partyers coming into town. We did go to the Nevada Ballet's matinee of the Nutcracker at Paris on Christmas Eve afternoon and that was really about the only thing festive (other than some displays at the nicer hotels). The Strip is full of people trying to get away from Christmas from all over the world. We met a lot of nice people, some who had lost family members and wanted to get away from the holiday and some that just didn't like the commercialism of Christmas and refused to stay home and do the norm. My husband and our 30 yr old son just wanted to relax and in my case, to get away from cooking, cleaning, and burning myself out on my days off from work like I usually did during holidays. Our first trip on Christmas we stayed at IP and all there was to show it was Christmas was a little 6 ich ornamental Xmas tree by the til in the Gift Shop...The next day, 26th, it was gone!! NOTHING is closed on Dec 24 - 26 except for a few shows that are dark...Seemed like everything was as it always is. I havent' met a person yet who liked Chris Angel. We really liked CDS "KA" at MGM. Jersey Boys was awesome for any age...I've seen it twice and would go again. LOVE was pretty good too.

The Wicked Spoon is NOT at Aria or City Center. It is located inside the Cosmopolitan.
