What ever became of this?

Are there any or was the decision overturned?

Personally I still hate the idea of horses downtown.

Hopefully they realized the first time a horse dropped dead in the summer it would make national news. Jon Stewart would snark the living hell out of us for being so stupid as to allow horses on the streets in July in the mid-afternoon.

Outside of the animal crudity and stupidity of us humans doing such of an adventure just think of riding in a carriage when it is 110F. Second the streets DT are not designed for horse traffic it is bad enough for what we have traveling on them now and what great things are you going to see DT Las Vegas is not a central park type of area. I believe this is a dead subject like pro sports coming to LV.

Dear God, this would be absolutely awful for so many reasons.
A 1200 pound beast, 110 degrees and drunk people everywhere is a recipe for disaster.

There were heat restrictions on the temps at which the horses could be worked...I'm wondering if this is the reason they have not been out yet.

I REALLY hope the decision to allow them was overturned though.

Between the vehicle emissions and drunks downtown is just not the place for horses not to mention all the animal rights people who would be potentially put off by the backwards thinking of a city that returned to the practice of allowing this.

Have you people ever driven in the NW part of town and seen all the horses that are NOT dying of the heat? They've been using horse power in the desert for at least 10,000 years. FYI: We had horse drawn carriages on the Strip back in the day, but the cab companies, and the cab drivers union (that honest group called Teamsters?) did everything they could to get rid of them. Do you really think the owners of the horses would purposefully drive them until they drop dead? Wouldn't they lose a lot of money? Or would they rest them and water them frequently to save their investment? Carriages in the extreme humidity of the south (Charleston, New Orleans, etc.), which is worse than our heat on a bad day, don't leave dead horses lying around the streets for God's sake.

I see all the horses in the East side of town that aren't dying in the heat, either. They're in the shade during the worst of the day, and they're constantly (and I mean CONSTANTLY) heading for the water trough. How are we going to get that much water to the horses so that they don't suffer heat stroke? Especially if they're pulling loads?

It appears the horses are smarter than the humans As I stated before who wants to ride around in 112 degree weather and what in Hell are you going to show them in the DT area the new government buildings or the latest and greatest bail bonds place. I am sure having a drunk passenger in a carriage would be a treat also.
