Figure $200-$300 per month for June-Sept. We have a 2200 sqft 2-story and that is what we averaged. Our October bill was $41.

The highest electric bill we have ever had was $130. And that's for a 3,700 sqft two-story house in a west-facing location. Granted, we spent a lot of money to get our home that energy efficient, but it's paid for itself several times over. Also, coming from the DR, you should be fine with our summers -- no need to set the thermostat in the 70s.

Search the forum for "unusually energy efficient" and you'll find my posts about what I did.

Single story home 3 bedroom 1719 sq ft 2 people July and Aug power bill $168.00 each month A/C set at 77. Moved here also from NYS why rent is cheap NYS taxes vs Nevada taxes even though people in Las Vegas think the rents are high here.

You should calculate $40-$60 for electricity from October-April, $120-$200+ from May-September. Our electricity rate in Clark County is approximately $.11 per kwh unless you sign up for a Time-Of-Use-Program by NV Energy. I currently only pay $.07 per kwh from October-May through the Choose when you use program.

We're very energy conscious. 1800 square foot ranch, 2 people, approx. $20 per month except summer when it gets high 100's. Do not waste electricity running a load of dishes for just 2 people, two loads of laundry per week, water heater not on highest setting, etc.

Perhaps you could detail what you did. I had a quick look at some of your posts and will be researching swamp coolers.

We saved at least $100/m off the previous years electric bills ($300-$400) during this summer by using foamboard in the windows to block out the sun and heat

sorry OP, don't mean to derail the thread
