Hey Gang,

We have or departure date to leave MN.
We are heading out with the dogs on Feb 3rd. Arriving Feb 6th.
Our POD of belongings is not guaranteed to arrive till Feb 12th so, we are thinking that spending a few hundred dollars on a short term rental makes a LOT more sense than attempting to lease a house we have not seen in person.

So we plan to stay a week or two in property like one of these.

My question is this, which location would you rate as best and why.

Thanks for the help and see you soon.

Those are all in bad neighborhoods. I guess if I had to pick one, I'd choose Sahara or Tropicana.

You might be better off at the Budget Suites on Rancho near the Texas Station. Pretty ghetto, but not scary ghetto.

I would just lease the house you haven't seen in person. Just pick a recently-built neighborhood and make arrangements with the landlord that you'll fork over the first/last/security (in cash, no out of state checks, please) when you arrive and the place passes your visual inspection. I would take that deal as a landlord. I think most property managers would, as well.

We leased our house sight unseen.. but we paid over $4K from 3,000 miles away in certified funds when we signed the lease a month ahead of time. I was told this was commonplace.

I think the short-term stay is a waste of money, and potentially dangerous. Lots of rental value in Mountain's Edge at the moment. At the end of the day, all of the neighborhoods at the periphery of the valley are the same.

You must be extra careful when leasing a house sight unseen. Too many scams in the valley.

Virtually no property manager will take a house off the market without a substantial and non-returnable deposit. Many will not rent starting more than 2 weeks out. Sometimes you can get four weeks on an expensive place.

Scoop may be willing to wait until the day of move in but he is close to unique.

All this stuff is negotiable but nearly all property managers will not deal without money in their hands.

We could just stay in a hotel a couple nights LaQuinta does not charge for dogs....
I have a call into a rental agent who was refered to me by a trusted source.
I will be talking to her later today or early tomorrow.
I have people on the ground who can visit prospective houses for me
looking to rent for around 850 to 900 a month...
Want a house if possible because we have 4 SMALL dogs totaling 30 lbs.

Thanks for the info I did not figure any short term rental would be in a great location....
