I had friends in this week and did the buffets and Caesars and Paris. A question always seems to come up when we go to a buffet. How do you tip at a buffet?

Flat $1-2.00. Yes, they may have to clear, but aside from that, all they did was bring me two glasses of what i drink.

$1 each on the table at the end or $5 total if the service was exceptional.

We did 15 - 20 percent too with a dollar for every drink and we made sure to go during happy hour from 5 -7 pm. Fresh food an discount drinks, Yum!

Though I think at buffets you can get away with tipping a little less because they don't bring you your food. However, they do have to clear away all the dishes you keep piling up on your table and then bus the table after you leave. In a sense it seems like they're doing more work because they're still waiting on you by bringing your drinks, making recommendations of what to try, and taking a lot of dishes away.

This is ridiculous. I don't know about you, but I go get my own food at buffets. For drink service, $2-$3 max.

I usually leave $2 per guest or $5 for 2 of us.
I'm amazed at how many people leave nothing at buffets. Granted the server only brings water and drinks but they do a lot of clearing.

$5 for 2 people if the service is decent and we get drink refills. $2 if we don't.
