Because the strip is an expensive madhouse. Fremont street is much more fun, you can walk back and forth between casinos, there is music & entertainment outside, no traffic, I could go on and on. We never go to the strip anymore.

Fremont Street WAS fun. Until the liquor laws were posted. Until it got too many events and concerts clogging it up. It is no longer cheap, and walking around is increasingly more difficult because of the crowds.

And yet they can't seem to change the songs played on the canopy.

Well, I beg to differ. It is WAY cheaper than the strip. I can still get a beer for $3 on Fremont Street. You can't come close to that on the strip.

You can if you know where to look. I was drinking $3 glasses of wine at Casino Royale. In real glass, not a plastic cup like they give you on Fremont now thanks to the "new" rules

Yeah, there's no shortage of cheap booze on the Strip. You only really get dinged for convenience in certain settings, especially if you're captive, like at a show or in a club. I never paid more than $5 for a drink and most of them were a lot cheaper than that.

We were in the bar at The Venitian that is modeled after the one in Rock of Ages (can't think of the name) and I just had water. I couldn't/wouldn't afford the drinks there. But elsewhere on the strip? Cheap drinks can be found easily.

The same can happen on Fremont Street. Sit in a bar inside Golden Nugget and a glass of wine will set you back $10 easy. But drink prices are getting higer in general on Fremont as you are now forced to go inside the casinos to purchase, so they can charge whatever they please.

Jeez. Whatever.

I can go to at least four different casinos downtown and it not take me an hour to get to each one, okay?

I see no point in continue to argue over what my personal preference is. If you don't like downtown, don't go. More room for us.

::;shrug:::

Downtown is changing fast, and not for the better, unfortuately. I was Fremont Street's biggest fan at one time. It's sad to see it change for the worse.

+1

I've been staying on the strip for years, but now it's Fremont Street for me.
I stayed at the Downtown Grand recently and the rooms were nice and the bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I think I've ever slept on. And I love being able to walk around Fremont Street, watch live music, pop in and out of casinos, etc.
