Get rid of the cardboard. I don't know if crickets can eat it, but cockroaches and termites can. Also, look for water sources the bugs can use, and get rid of them.

Not cats. I don't think they'll go near the scorpions. You need Meerkats. Yup, that's the ticket.

Figure out what the other bugs, who are likely herbivores, are eating, and get rid of it. It's likely plantings on or near your property. I had heard of this in the Phoenix area, where people had fruit trees. The fruit brought in the prey bugs, which drew in the predators (the scorpions.)
Not really true here. Scorpions here are mostly very local. And they reproduce slowly. So if you wap a colony hard you will reduce the numbers substantially. Maybe 5 or 10% of homes have any in the newer tracts. If you work at removing hiding places and killing all you can you may very well wipe out a colony.

Depends on the cat. I killed a scorpion in my place last week. It was near the back door. I don't think it just came in, I think it was trying to get OUT because my cat was stalking it. He's a natural hunter, has brought me many "presents" including a lizard, so I would always expect me to find scorpions.

Cats aren't often injured by stingers because their fur and thinck skin are difficult to pierce by the scorpion.

A friend who lives in a condo in Henderson sees a scorpion at least once a month!

Saw another in the bedroom Monday morning. Going to buy a black light and some good spray. The hunt is on.
